We understand
Planning your own funeral or helping a loved one plan theirs even before they’ve gone can feel daunting. But if you look at it through a different lens, it can be an opportunity to decide how you’re remembered. To make your funeral service a true reflection of who you are.
That’s where our Australia-wide funeral planning service Guardian Plan can help. Guardian Plan allows you to plan and pay for your funeral at today’s prices.
Why you should consider pre-paying your funeral
A little forward planning can make things much easier for your family and friends after you’re gone.
Take the burden off your family
Planning a funeral while grieving can feel like an impossible challenge. Pre-planning your funeral gives those closest to you the space and time to mourn while a caring Mareena Purslowe Funeral Specialist takes care of all the details.
Safeguard against rising costs
Funerals can be a significant financial burden on a family, especially if death is sudden and unexpected. But with a pre-planned funeral, you can take care of the cost ahead of time. It also means you pay today’s prices, protecting against inflation.
Say goodbye in your own way
From the location and type of service to the music that’s played, when you pre-plan a funeral, you can take the time to consider all the details. It’s an opportunity to make your final mark on the world and leave a lasting impression on your family and friends.
Know your investment is safe
Your funds will be securely held by The Over Fifty Guardian Friendly Society Limited, regulated by APRA, until the time comes to release them. 70,000 customers currently have $600 million of funds under management with the Society. Funeral plans are also exempt from the asset test, so it may also help maximise your pension if you meet the ATO criteria.
What’s involved in a pre-planned funeral?
Like any funeral, it all starts with a conversation. Our experienced Funeral Specialists will ensure you feel comfortable and empowered throughout the process. They’ll discuss your life, your legacy and how you’d like to be remembered.
You’ll share your preferences – whether you’d like to be buried or cremated, where you’d like your service held and where your final resting place will be. You might also choose a coffin or casket, an urn for your ashes or other inclusions such as flowers and condolence stationery.
After you decide on the details, you’ll either pay in full or set up an instalment plan to help you cover the cost over time. If you move, you can transfer your plan to another White Lady Funerals location around the country.
From there, take comfort knowing you’ve taken a significant financial and emotional burden off your family when the time comes to say goodbye.
Disclaimer: We recommend you obtain appropriate and independent professional advice before making any investment decision.
What payment options are available?
Pre-planning your funeral allows you to pay in advance, removing the financial burden that often comes when someone dies unexpectedly. With a prepaid Guardian Plan funeral, you can pay in full or in instalments over a period of up to three years.
Prepaid services through Guardian Plan are not subject to inflation, so your loved ones won’t have to pay any additional costs after you pass for the services you’ve chosen. They also cover the entire cost of the funeral you’ve planned, whereas some funeral insurances may not cover everything, leaving your family to foot the bill.
